Ever wanted an intimate look at how an artist goes about constructing a drawing? Join us as a group of students are coached through how to perfect the art of drawing the most natural form in the world - the naked human body. Please feel free to bring your own pencils, paints and sketch books and join in with the drawing.

An adult evening of stories and music under the stars - an introduction to the world of modern storytelling; stories from far and near, from long ago and yesterday.

If you could have your very own Room of Requirement what would be in it? Norton Road Primary School children present through writing and performance what would be in their Room of Requirement. Children up to the age of 12 are invited along to join in with the workshops. If you would like your child to take part please contact.


Unseen shadows present…The Greenhouse. 4.00-5.00pm

An hour of some of the freshest dancers, singers and MC’s to grace the heart of Bedfordshire presented by Luton’s award-winning dance group, the Unseen Shadows, plus a chance to showcase your talent with an open-freestyle competition! Leave it to the Shadow’s to pick out the cream of the crop!


Slam Poetry 7.30-9.30pm

Social issues are the main agenda for this event, as poets pair up and perform poetry battles against one another. Each delivering a poetic point of view on real life issues. Live musical performances will take place between acts from a choir and two solo artists.

A day of dance on Market Hill


Its bigger than a Hip Hop, Hip Hop, Hip Hop…Midday to 2.00pm

Workshop

Join in while Inga B and the rest of her dance troop take you through a series of hip hop dance moves. Be prepared to show off your moves to the public in a performance at the end of the session. All ages welcome, no pre booked slots, please turn up on the day if you would like to take part. Baggy clothing and a bottle of water are recommended.



Is it Tea Time Governor? 3.00-6.00pm

Tea Dance

Dance along to the sounds of 1940s Big Band swing. All ages welcome. Tea and cakes will be on offer. Tea Dance with Lee’s Swing Band and Plumbun Cakes.


Knitty Gritty Friday 3.00-6.00pm

Knitting demonstration

Sit, relax in the sunshine and learn to knit with Pamela Hatswell and other experienced knitters who will be only too willing to explain the mystery of reading patterns, show you some hints and tips and encourage you to get started. Beginners please call 01582 482517 (Kayte’s Needlecrafts) to book a half hour session to include your tuition, pattern, yarn and needles all of which you take home to continue. We will ask you to donate £5 on the day to cover the cost of your yarn, needles & pattern.

Experienced knitters please come prepared with needles and wool – an ongoing project would be excellent.


Nobody puts Luton in the Corner… 7.00-10.00pm

Screening of Dirty Dancing with Mughouse Rhythm and Blues Band and live Rock and Roll Dancing.  Feel free to come along and join in with the dancing. Please come dressed in appropriate 50's attire.

A day dedicated to all things Fashion, Hair and Beauty related including commercial and avant-garde fashion shows, hair cutting and styling and make up demonstrations.  Free haircuts, make up and clothes available to the public throughout the day. Music and dance performances will also take place. Run in association with Toni and Guy celebrating the 10th anniversary of their Luton salon.

Worldbeats producer James Asher brings together a winning combination of world class musicians including carnatic singer Mahesh Vinayakram who’s vocals can be heard on the exciting new album, 'Bravado Masala' and Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack along with UK based fiddler Tom Fairburn, guitarist Brian Heywood and Shetland percussionist Sam McEvoy. The group have recently toured Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Jaipur and perform in Luton for one night only! An event not to be missed!

They’ve come through blood, sweat, tears, trials, tribulations and 1000’s of roles of camera film (or the alternative in digital format) to bring you their final piece of University work. Join us as University of Bedfordshire third year students screen their best and final films. Guest speakers and industry professionals will also be on hand to give talks and advice on how to get into the industry.

Moondance Ceilidh Band provide an eclectic assortment of music which fuses traditional dance music with elements of rock and funk! A closing event not to be missed!

Visual Art

Look out for a number of exhibitions in temporary galleries throughout George Street, The Mall and the Indoor Market for the duration of the festival.  This will include work by Artists; Rekha Sameer, Radu Tudoroiu, Ben Hodson and Oliver Griffin alongside numerous other local artists, students and designers.  The work will cover a range of themes, topics and mediums.
