2010 Festival….

The format of the festival has changed significantly for the 2010 festival. The majority of events will now take place on two outside stages, which are situated in Luton Town Centre at Market Hill and St Georges Square. Time wise everything in 2010 will happen over five days- so check out the programme and make sure you catch us before you miss us!! In terms of events we will still be bringing you the same eclectic mix as last year including live music, dance and theatre performances, poetry and spoken word events, and arts exhibitions and installations. Particular highlights this year include the addition of a comedy stage and the festivals first full-length film festival which is being organised by a group of Undergraduate students. (Check out the link on the main website page to view the full film fest programme) To support the community ethos of the festival all events this year are also free!  We hope you’re as excited as we are about this year’s festival and we look forward to seeing you at all the events!!

About us

Luton Arts Festival is a celebration of all things artistic and cultural in Luton. It strives to bring together students, local community members and national and international artists and performers work and showcase it to the people of Luton.

History of the festival….

The festival began in 2008 founded on an idea discussed amongst University staff that they would like to find a way to promote and showcase the work of their students in a broader spectrum than just within the University.  The idea of producing an arts festival was settled on. Masters student Robin Saklatvala was brought on board to run the festival and what followed was a three and a half week programme jam packed full of events including live music, theatre, dance, poetry and literature events, film screenings, art exhibitions and installations that took place throughout the University, arts venues and pubs and clubs in and around Luton.
